About
Careena Cook
I started Central Spark in 2013, when I completed my Masters degree and began working in private practice.
For several years prior to that, I had various counselling roles across a wide range of settings.
Through life experience, personal therapy, my work with clients, and ongoing professional development, my work as a therapist continues to evolve.
It is further shaped and sharpened by relationships with supervisors and mentors specialising in areas such as Gestalt Therapy, complex trauma, grief, and EMDR.
It is this depth and breadth of experience that has shaped my capacity to work with complexity and with a wide variety of people, including those whose lives don’t sit neatly within mainstream expectations.
This is reflected in my work with people living with the effects of complex trauma, chronic health issues, and complicated grief, intersecting with cultural and family dynamics, identity and gender, and neurodiversity.
It is deeply rewarding to be with a client as chaos calms, energy returns, and painful emotions and long-standing beliefs begin to lighten and shift.
