The Work
When Therapy Softens from Effort into Awareness
The term ‘work’ is often used to describe what happens in therapy — something effortful, something aimed at improvement or progress.
What I have learned, however, is that therapy is often aided by less effort, less ‘work’, and more leaning into what is. By noticing resistance as it arises, without needing to fight it.
A Space for Gentle Awareness and Exploration
Through gentle, non-judgemental observation of what is happening — within ourselves, with others, and with the environment — something begins to shift.
The therapy space can be one where a sense of safety and freedom develops, where expression is not forced into a particular form.
It can also be a space for play, where laughter emerges and creativity has room to move.
At times, it becomes a place for deeper conversation — about what it is to be human, and to be alive in this time and place.
Meeting You Where You Are
There is no right place to begin therapy.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, curious, or simply aware that something isn’t quite working, we can start there.
